What is Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL)?

What is High Density Lipoprotein (HDL)?

HDL is often referred to as good cholesterol. This type of cholesterol takes the bad cholesterol away from the arteries and brings it to the liver from where it is removed. Having 60mg/dL is preferred.

What are Triglycerides?

These cannot be considered as type of cholesterol but if your body has increased amounts of triglycerides, it may lead to cardio vascular disorders. It is advisable to have this level less than 150mg/dL.

Risks associated with Cholesterol:

High cholesterol is a major cause of a number of heart diseases. It can lead to a heart attack in men and women after the age of 45. Not only heart disease but cholesterol is also responsible for blockage in arteries, hardening of arteries, blood clots, stroke, etc. It is essential that you take appropriate treatment if you have high cholesterol to avoid these terrible consequences.
